Splish Splash

Brady still takes a daily bath in the toddler bath while Taylor showers. It allows Brady to splash and keep the water confined. On the weekends, we put him in the bathtub with us. Here are a few pictures.

What goes up must come down

Since Brady has started pulling himself up, he seems to hurt himself more frequently. I made him this little bag of ice, and he seemed miraculously cured. I should probably ignore the falls more often. He seems to be perfectly fine.

Playtime on Saturday

In the last video, I'm trying to bobble the Nerf soccer ball. It's not as funny when Daddy does it because Daddy has more control of the ball.

A new day with new tricks

Brady just started squinting his eyes before the camera flashes. His cousin Brianna went through a phase of this too.
Fortunately, we were able to snap a few open eyed pictures too.
I think it's so cute how Brady and Daisy are almost the same height.

In the past 2 days, Brady has started pulling himself up on his crib and up on the couch.

Chase the Dog Dog

I generally try to keep the videos around 30 - 60 seconds, but this is a long one... sorry... When we get home from work and daycare, the whole Bacot family is excited to be together again (dogs included). Playing chase with Brady and Bailey is one of our favorite games. At the end of the video, Brady is looking at Bailey and saying dog. This is probably the second or third time that Brady has looked and said "dog", but he calls every thing dadadad or dododod. It's hard to know if this is really a first word, but I like that we caught it on video.

Some of you may notice that something about this video is very strange. Over the holiday weekend, we got a new rug and rearranged the furniture in the living room. This created a lot more play space and a better toy zone for Brady.

Waffles at Grammy's

Grammy got a fabulous waffle maker for Christmas. Periodically, we come over for waffles on Saturday mornings. I think Brady will appreciate this more as he gets older. For now, he was happy to meet Pappaw's guitar. It was also fun to play with Mick and Mitzi in the back yard.

Happy Birthday Kevin!

The gracious hosts.
Roland and Veronica
Megan, Brady and I
Kevin and Melanie got married in February in Fredericksburg. The newlyweds invited a few friends over to their new apartment for Kevin's birthday. If you look closely, you can see the cake is still so hot that the candles are melting from the bottom.

Adventures in Eating

Periodically, we've tried to give Brady Cheerios or the little Gerber Graduate Puffs (we call them stars). Historically, he swallows immediately and gags. This week I tried again by giving Brady 1/3 of one star, and he did great! I think he's really starting to get the hang of it. Yah for stars!

Brady started holding his own bottle when he was about 6 months. I think this helped him operate the sippy cup, but he's still not completely grasping the idea that he should be drinking.

Evolution of Baby: Standing Upright

Brady's getting more comfortable standing up without us holding him, though he still needs the support of the couch or a table top toy like the one shown here. I love this new thing he's doing with his bottom lip. He also sticks his tongue out when he's concentrating on pulling himself up (Taylor does the same thing when he's concentrating on something athletic).

We're getting close to bed time in this photo. Since Brady was around 3 months, he's done this laugh-cry thing as he starts to get tired or upset. You can get a taste of that in this video.

You should see the other guy

Brady had his first accident at school. He fell into a toy and bruised a spot on top of his left cheekbone. Doesn't he look cute on his little riding toy? I can't get enough of this sweet face.

Meal Time

These videos were taken a few weeks ago. Videos take longer to download, cut and then upload than regular photos, so I tend to get behind. The second video just shows Brady eating. I know it's a bit boring, but I think it's funny how Brady clenches his fists after each bite. You would think he was eating something really tart, but I think this particular video shows him eating Rice and Lentils - VERY mild.

Taylor and I rarely eat in the dining room. I thought that having Brady would change all of that. As you can see, we've begun to bring his high chair into the living room for dinner. Being able to talk or watch TV comfortably while we feed him helps us to be more patient with the breaks he likes to take. Also, Brady loves to look out onto the patio during mealtime. Moving him away from the window helps his concentration.

Sick, Sick, Sick

The Bacot Family is home sick today. Taylor and I ate different foods all day yesterday. I got sick around 5:00pm. Taylor came down with the same stomach bug around midnight. Brady seems to be doing well so far. I hope he can coast past this one. It's the worst nausea I've felt since being pregnant. I feel guilty for being a bit glad that Taylor can experience the way I felt for that first half of pregnancy.

Discovery Green

We heard there was a Green Market at Discovery Green from noon - 4:00pm on Sundays. In the development stages of the park, I understood that a Green Market was like a Farmer's Market. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. We still enjoyed playing in the water and watching the fountains. Our quest to find a good farmer's market continues...

A day with the Smoters

Sarah Beth and I have been friends since high school, and I'm tickled that we're both starting families at the same time. Today we went to Hermann Park's Japanese Garden to take family pictures of one another. We got a lot of really great pictures. We will definitely need to make this a regular habit! You can visit their family blog at http://www.smoterfamily.blogspot.com/. I feel like James and Brady are seeming closer and closer in age. After our little photoshoot, we came back to our townhouse to swim at the pool. It was a little cloudy and cool, so we mostly held the babies above the water. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to warmer days; today's high was around 90.

Brady the Dog Lover

Somehow most of my videos of Brady show him interacting with the dogs. He loves both of the dogs, but he loves Bailey the most. I would say Daisy is more fond of Brady than Bailey, but they all seem to get along well. Can you believe how quickly my little baby moves to play with his dogs?! Our neighbors, Rita and Ezra, gave him the big plush dog. I'm glad that Brady can grab, pet and bite this dog with no potential consequences. Our dogs are very trustworthy, but Brady is a bit rough with them sometimes.

Swimming with the Cousins

For Mother's Day weekend, Joanne and Tricia came down from Tennessee. They came over to our townhouse with Jeffrey and Daniel to go swimming. Brady likes to blow rasberries on his floaty.

Reflections and Running Water

Watching Sesame Street

Brady's started watching Sesame Street. Right now, we have 26 episodes saved on our DVR. I love that it's educational and commercial free. Brady giggles at certain parts, mostly the opening credits. I interrupted the show to take a few pictures.

Happy Birthday Sam and Sara

We went to David's house to celebrate Sam and Sara's birthday. Once again, we tried to get a photo of the boys with Papa. This is the best we could do. Luke was more interested in George the Yorkie; it was cute to see them playing together.

Visiting the Smoters

James was a month old last time we took pictures of our boys together. He's 2 1/2 months in this photo. It's amazing how quickly they change! I already miss all of the funny baby moves as they develop their coordination. This little video of James takes me back.
